Zack Snyder will not be finishing the production stage of the DC comics movie, Justice League. This follows after his daughter’s sudden death in March. No foul play was suspected with her passing.
The death of his 20-year-old daughter, Autumn, has been kept a secret from the media, with only a small inner circle knowing what had happened.
Snyder is the director of the upcoming blockbuster and has been at the helm of films like Batman v Superman, Man of Steel and 300.
Snyder told The Hollywood Reporter that the last two months has been hard for him and his family. “I’ve decided to take a step back from the movie to be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me,” Snyder said.
Snyder’s wife, Deborah, will also be stepping away from the production. She is a producer on the film.
Joss Whedon has been hired to take over the job as director in the meantime. Whedon is famous for his involvement in the extremely successful Marvel Cinematic Universe.
He will “oversee additional photography that has already been planned and carry the film through the end of its post-production,” the LA Times reported.
The film is still set to hit the big screens on 17 November 2017. –Franco Havenga
